While I am a research professor at Stevens Institute, I can devote a small amount of my time to outside volunteer assistance or consulting projects.  Email me a few sentences on your topic area, and I’ll pass along my videoconferencing information so you can join my monthly “office hours” every first Monday at 5pm.

This can be useful for expert witness work, or if there are community resilience funding opportunities where proposers would benefit from my general knowledge of physical oceanographic or river processes, climate change, flood adaptation, or coastal flooding and storm impacts.

Prior projects include:

  • Hurricane Sandy expert witness cases relating to NJ Transit, Amtrak, and Long Island Power Authority. In the NJ Transit case, my testimony helped win $300 million in insurance coverage for property repairs related to Superstorm Sandy
  • New York City Panel on Climate Change – report authorship
  • Housing and Urban Development Rebuild By Design competition – winning team

Other possible project areas include assisting communities in seeking federal or state flood risk reduction and climate adaptation funding – e.g. FEMA’s Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC), NOAA Coastal Resilience Grants Program, NFWF National Coastal Resilience Fund, the Hudson River Estuary Grants Program Request for Applications (RFAs), New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission Request for Proposals (RFPs), the NYS Environmental Protection Fund, and NJ DEP’s Regional Resilience Planning Grants.
